Signs your conveyor belt needs replacement

Roller chain (modular) belts

  • Cracked, bent, or missing pans causing gaps in the conveying surface

  • Broken hinge pins or worn pin holes creating loose pan connections

  • Stretched or elongated chain causing pitch mismatch between pans and sprockets

  • Worn sprocket engagement resulting in chain skipping or hopping

  • Material falling through pan joints that were previously tight

  • Visible lateral migration of pans on the chain strand

  • Railroad rail wear patterns that indicate misaligned or unevenly loaded belt sections

Rubber and PVC belts

  • Surface wear through to the carcass or fabric plies

  • Longitudinal cracking, cover delamination, or edge fraying

  • Belt tracking that cannot be corrected by standard adjustment indicates structural deformation or uneven wear

  • Persistent belt slippage under normal load after tension adjustment

  • Belt cupping or camber that causes consistent one-sided tracking drift

  • Splice failure or repeated splice wear at the same joint

  • Visible belt sag between idlers that tensioning cannot resolve
