slider bed conveyor systems.
Smooth top slider bed belts are covered on a dedicated page with deeper detail on light-duty and heavy-duty cover options, industry applications, and specialty compounds.

Slider bed conveyor belts run across a flat metal bed rather than on idlers or a chain. The bed absorbs impact from falling material, supports the belt across its full length, and reduces belt wear by eliminating the roll gaps where debris typically catches. Slider beds conveyors are also more cost-effective than flat idler and roller chain conveyors because of their simple construction.
Slider bed belts are built from PVC, rubber, or specialty compounds. Covers can be specified for abrasion resistance, heat resistance, oil resistance, food-grade compliance, and static conductivity. Bottom covers are typically smoother than those on roller bed belts to reduce friction and heat buildup against the bed. For extreme abrasion, urethane slider bed belts are available with a wide operating temperature range and support v-guides, molded cleats, chevrons, capped edges, and wear strips.

Cleated slider bed belts handle inclines, angled conveying, and applications where loose material would otherwise roll back. Fluent offers cleats in two attachment methods:
Vulcanized cleats: hot-welded to the belt for the strongest permanent connection. Best for continuous production and high-load applications.
Tack-on cleats: mechanically applied to an installed belt without removal, allowing cleat replacement or pattern changes without belt replacement.
Urethane cleat blades are also available as replaceable inserts. The belt maintains full carrying capacity for its service life while only the cleats wear and get replaced. Cleat heights run from 1 inch to 8 inches across I, scoop, beefy, S-profile, C-profile, lug, square, notched, and chevron-notched patterns.

Slider bed conveyors are used in precision-handling industries, such as assembly lines, package handling, and sortation. In recycling, slider bed belts support material recovery operations moving paper, cardboard, glass, and other recyclables. Cleated slider bed belts run in mining, waste and tire recycling, sand, stone, and gravel handling, food processing, bio-fuel, and agricultural harvesting. Other users include aerospace, food processing, and automotive.

Most slider bed belt decisions come down to five specs:

For application-specific guidance, see how to select the correct conveyor belt size or how to choose the correct conveyor belt.
When ordering a replacement slider bed belt, have these measurements ready. If anything's unclear, contact our engineering team and we'll help work through it.
