Track your flow rate and totalized weight. Fluent supplies complete belt scale systems, individual retrofit components, and factory-integrated scales on new conveyor builds. Single-idler through multi-idler configurations, with NTEP legal-for-trade options.
Belt scales are specified by configuration. All configurations mount to a continuous belt conveyor running on idlers.
Repeatability across all configurations is ±0.1%. Load cells are hermetically sealed stainless steel, IP67, 2 mV/V output at rated capacity, with overload protection at 150% of rated capacity. Trade-approved versions carry a compensated temperature range of 14 to 104°F, matching NIST Handbook 44 requirements.
eliable material tracking.
Scale controllers and weight transmitters that process load cell signals into rate-of-flow, totalizer, and setpoint outputs. Available with analog, relay, and fieldbus interfaces for PLC and SCADA integration.

A belt scale calculates mass flow by measuring the load the belt applies to a known length of weighframe, and the distance the belt travels in the same interval. A controller multiplies belt loading by belt speed to produce an instantaneous flow rate in tons per hour, then integrates that rate over time to produce a running total.
Belt scales are continuous instruments that suit weighments running ten minutes or longer (averaging improves accuracy). They are a poor fit for discrete item weights, short sampling runs, or batch verification.

Base belt scale selection on the end use of your measurement data.
We supply belt scales for the following Fluent conveyor types or OEM equivalents:
Trough idler conveyors: The troughed profile naturally centers material to maintain consistent load geometry across the weigh span.
Flat idler conveyors: Often installed upstream of sorting stations to establish baseline infeed tonnage.
Slider bed conveyors: Standard belt scales can be integrated in idler-supported transition zones.
Three distinct accuracy figures appear in belt scale specifications; they are not interchangeable:
Commercial operations using scale totals for invoicing, royalty calculations, custody transfer, or regulatory reporting require an NTEP-certified system, inspected and sealed by local Weights and Measures authorities. Internal process monitoring carries no certification requirement.
Maintaining scale calibration depends on strict physical positioning to minimize dynamic forces and structural interference.

Mass flow rate calculations depend directly on belt speed (Rate=Load×SpeedRate = Load \times Speed Rate=Load×Speed). A 1% error in speed measurement yields a direct 1% error in totalized weight.
