About NORD

NORD Drivesystems (or Getriebebau NORD) was founded in 1965 and is headquartered in Bargteheide near Hamburg, Germany. The company designs and produces gear units, electric motors, and drive electronics in-house, and operates production sites and subsidiaries across dozens of countries. NORD is known for modular drives and housing, which let a gear unit, motor, and inverter be matched into a single configured drive.

NORD builds complete drive systems assembled from proprietary components:

Gear units: helical inline, helical-bevel, parallel shaft, and worm reducers, plus MAXXDRIVE industrial gear units for very high output torque.

Electric Motors: asynchronous and synchronous motors, including the IE5+ permanent-magnet line, matched to NORD gear units.

Frequency Inverters: the NORDAC range of variable frequency drives and motor starters for central and decentralized control.

Drive Electronics and Controls: configurable inverter platforms with condition monitoring for predictive maintenance.
