Slewing bearings

This measurement defines the minimum bearing size and must match your pivot shaft or mounting structure diameter.

The outer diameter determines the load capacity and must fit within your equipment's structural envelope.

Record the bolt hole diameter and verify the bolt circle diameter (the diameter of the circle passing through the center of all bolt holes).

Check whether your application uses a geared or gearless bearing. For geared bearings, identify whether the teeth are on the inner diameter (internal gear) or the outer diameter (external gear). Count the number of teeth if possible.

Measure the overall height (cross-section) of the existing bearing. This dimension affects available space and indicates bearing type.

Conveyor applications require careful calculation of moment loads based on boom length, material weight, and wind forces. Heavy-duty applications typically need three-row roller bearings, while moderate loads may work with four-point contact or cross roller designs.

This includes exposure to dust, moisture, temperature extremes, and contamination. Outdoor installations require appropriate sealing and may need corrosion-resistant coatings.

Check that mounting surfaces meet flatness tolerances, typically 0.002–0.010 inches, depending on bearing size.
