Fluent supplies replacement blades for primary and secondary conveyor belt scrapers. Polyurethane and tungsten carbide blades available for belt widths 18"–96".
Polyurethane (urethane) blades for general-duty applications. Color-coded urethane compounds let you match hardness and temperature rating to application conditions. Food-grade and MSHA-approved compounds are available.

Tungsten carbide blades extend service life 2–3x compared to polyurethane in abrasive applications. Confirm mechanical fastener compatibility before ordering, since some splice profiles require blade profile clearance. Not recommended for mechanically fastened belts without verification.
Best fit: Abrasive bulk materials, high-tonnage operations, applications where blade replacement frequency drives maintenance costs

Segmented blades use individual 3-inch-wide sections that conform to worn or cambered belt surfaces. Individual segments can be replaced without pulling the entire assembly, reducing material cost per service event. One-piece blades provide uniform contact on flat, well-maintained belts.
Cartridge systems allow worn blade assemblies to slide out and new cartridges to drop in without removing the mainframe or tensioner. Release tension, pull retaining pins, swap the cartridge, restore tension. Total changeout time is typically under 15 minutes with no specialized tools.
Replacement interval is governed by usable blade wear length (typically 1/4 inch to 3/8 inch, depending on blade design). Replace before the backing plate contacts the belt surface. Backing plate contact causes belt damage that far exceeds blade replacement cost.
Confirm pole or mandrel diameter before ordering. Common sizes are 2‑3/8 inch and 2‑7/8 inch. An incorrect pole diameter prevents blade seating and proper tensioner pressure distribution across the assembly.
Belt speed ratings vary by blade model and tensioner design. Many standard assemblies accommodate speeds to 600 fpm; heavy-duty and mine-duty configurations are rated to 1,200 fpm or higher. Confirm the rated maximum for the specific blade model when ordering for higher-speed applications.
Mount at the head pulley where the belt is under tension and material is still warm from the load zone. They use moderate contact pressure at a specific attack angle relative to the head pulley face. Replacement blades for primary cleaners are profiled to that angle and designed to remove the bulk of carryback (typically 60–70%) in a single pass.
Mount on the return side of the conveyor to remove residual fines and embedded material that the primary cleaner missed. They can be positioned at different points along the return path depending on chute geometry and space constraints. Secondary blades are typically flatter in profile and apply a higher contact force than primary blades.
Photos of the head pulley, existing cleaner assembly, and discharge chute help confirm fit and identify mounting constraints.
Inspect belt scraper blades every 30–90 days, depending on material abrasiveness and operating hours. Replace when any of the following are present:
Uneven wear across the blade width (more wear at the center than the edges or vice versa) indicates the blade contact plane is not aligned with the material path. Address belt tracking problems before installing new blades, and verify that tensioner pressure is consistent across the full assembly.
Inspect belt scraper blades every 30–90 days, depending on material abrasiveness and operating hours. Replace when any of the following are present:
Reduced blade height: Replace at approximately 50% of original thickness, or when usable wear length is exhausted
Torn or separated segments: Individual segment failure compromises contact across the full belt width
Hardening or cracking in urethane: Hardened blades lose compliance and cleaning efficiency; cracked blades indicate thermal or chemical degradation
Dulled or missing carbide tips: Worn carbide loses the edge geometry that drives cleaning performance
Increased carryback with tension correctly set: Blade wear is the first variable to check when cleaning performance drops
