CEMA safety best practices: The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association recommends specific safety mechanisms for different conveyor types. For example, emergency cable pull switches must be fitted along the entire accessible conveyor length and must feature slack-detection capabilities in case a rope switch breaks.
ISO 13850 requirements: This international standard specifies functional requirements for emergency stop design, including the requirement that emergency stop condition states be maintained until a deliberate reset function is performed.
Performance Level requirements: Under ISO 13849-1, safety functions must meet at least Performance Level c (PLc), which often necessitates specialized safety relay modules or force-guided relay technology.
