About PPI

Six partners founded Precision Pulley & Idler in Knoxville, Iowa, in 1977 to build conveyor pulleys for the material handling industry. PPI became 100% employee-owned through an ESOP in 2001 and has since grown into one of the largest conveyor-component manufacturers in the world, running more than two dozen facilities and supplying the recycling, mining, grain, forestry, and unit-handling industries. The same employee-owners who build the parts run its engineering and quality programs.

What PPI is known for

PPI built its name on the rotating components that carry and drive a conveyor belt, engineered for the loads and abrasion of bulk material handling.

Conveyor pulleys: drum, wing, and spiral pulleys in drive, tail, and take-up positions, with lagging and hub options for high-tension duty.

Belt idlers: troughing, flat, and return idlers that support the belt and hold its profile across the carry and return runs.

Impact idlers: cushioned rolls positioned under loading points to absorb the force of falling material.

Take-up frames: screw and gravity assemblies that maintain belt tension as it stretches and wears.

Idler accessories: brackets, bases, and guide rolls that mount and align the idler set to the frame.

How Fluent builds with PPI

Fluent is a conveyor manufacturer. We design, fabricate, weld, and assemble our machines in the United States, from project specs to delivery.

We also manufacture conveyor parts, so the components we build in-house hold up as well as the machines they’re built into. Innovative design is part of our philosophy, but we don’t believe in reinventing the wheel. We source specialized components from companies that have reached the top of their field. PPI is one of those companies.
