About Rockwell Automation

Rockwell Automation began in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1903, when Lynde Bradley and Dr. Stanton Allen founded the Compression Rheostat Company to make motor controllers for industrial cranes. Renamed the Allen-Bradley Company in 1909, it spent the twentieth century building motor controls, programmable logic controllers, and drives into the Allen-Bradley brand that still anchors its catalog. Rockwell International acquired Allen-Bradley in 1985, and the automation business was established as an independent company, Rockwell Automation, in 2001. It remains headquartered in Milwaukee and ranks among the largest industrial automation companies in the world.
