About SEW-EURODRIVE

Banker Christian Pähr founded Süddeutsche Elektromotorenwerke in Bruchsal, Germany, on June 13, 1931. The early catalog held electric motors, gearmotors, and a line of portable woodworking tools. Ernst Blickle took over after the Second World War and spent more than four decades turning a regional motor shop into a global drive manufacturer. The company adopted the SEW-EURODRIVE name in 1971 as its international business grew. The American subsidiary was incorporated in Lyman, South Carolina, in 1983 and has held the US headquarters since 1987. SEW-EURODRIVE remains in Blickle family hands and operates production plants, assembly sites, and Drive Technology Centers across more than 50 countries.

SEW-EURODRIVE is known for the gearmotor, a combined motor and reducer it brought to market in 1931 and has refined every decade since.

Helical and helical-bevel gear units: the R and K series, including the right-angle helical-bevel drives common on conveyor head shafts

Parallel shaft and worm gear units: F and S series reducers for tight mounting envelopes and shaft-mounted service

Electric motors: asynchronous and permanent magnet motors built to current IE efficiency classes

Frequency inverters and controls: MOVIDRIVE and MOVITRAC units, plus MOVIGEAR and MOVIMOT decentralized drives that place electronics at the machine

Industrial gear units: large helical and bevel-helical housings rated for high-torque bulk handling duty
