Tumble-back conveyors deliver a controlled feed of documents into high-capacity document shredders and paper balers. They use steep inclines (up to 60 degrees), cross-belt cleats, and gravity to meter the flow of materials.
Excess paper “tumbles back” (hence the name), while paper held between the cleats is carried over the nose to fall into the industrial shredder or baler. Roller chain conveyors are the most common tumble-back metering conveyors, and rubber combination belts are the optimal belting for document destruction.
Light-duty roller chain conveyors are common for document destruction applications. Their high torque, rugged construction, and versatile belt options adapt them to all stages of bulk shredding and baling.
After baling, a roller chain conveyor with a hinged steel belt transports heavy paper bales for storage or shipment.
Flat idler and slider bed conveyors often play a role in document destruction.
Support the belt with a series of idlers, which distribute weight evenly for high-volume, long-distance conveyance. Idler-supported incline conveyors with cleated belts transport bulk paper throughout shredding and baling.
Carry lower volumes of shredded materials between processes. They support the belt with a smooth, flat slider bed. They are the most cost-effective solution for short-distance transfers between equipment. Slider bed conveyors are less expensive and have lower maintenance costs.
