A 4-ply conveyor belt is made of four fabric layers (plies). Inner rubber or elastomer layers provide adhesion between plies. The belt fabric is typically coated in rubber or PVC.
4-ply belts provide excellent abrasion resistance, strength, and durability. They can be coated in food-grade surface finishes and compounds that resist oil, heat, fire, abrasion, and chemicals. They can also be equipped or integrally molded with cleats for improved material handling.
4-ply belts are a popular choice for heavy-duty applications and long-distance conveying. They attach to slider bed, trough idler, and flat idler conveyors for conveying heavy and abrasive loads.
Most 4-ply belts are 8–15mm thick. Belt thickness depends on the manufacturer, carcass composition, and cover thickness. 4-ply belts with slim carcass layers and covers can be as thin as 6mm, while steel-reenforced carcasses with thick cover material can exceed 24mm.
