The Fluent Conveyors Z Pan conveyor belts are engineered with industry leading 3D CAD software. These engineering tools are paired with a very experienced engineering team that has provided some of the industry’s most robust belting solutions. The Fluent Z Apron pan belts are engineered closely with the production team to ensure the processes from engineering to manufacturing meets tight tolerances, QA validation and project deadlines.
Manufacturing Specs
The Fluent Z Apron pan belts have been tested, validated and approved to meet the quality tolerances required to meet extreme specifications. Our manufacturing belt partnership has over 150 years of combined experience and have invested heavily into their core manufacturing processes over the last several years. The z pan belt offers a wide variety of solutions with chain pull options:
- 6,600 lbs
- 9,000 lbs
- 13,000 lbs
- 25,000 lbs
The Fluent Conveyors z pan conveyor belts only require standard maintenance to guarantee a trouble free operation. These belts come pre-tensioned and run for over two days prior to shipment to ensure they fit correctly and run smoothly.
Core adjustments and maintenance:
- Visual inspection (belt, damage, pan issues). This inspection is important to ensure that all of the components on your conveyor will continue to function as designed. Further protecting the other components and increasing the overall life of your machine.
- General removal of debris (chainways are clear and rollers/chain bars are free of debris). Keeping your conveyor clean is imperative to remove the risk of jams or potential failure.
- Auto Chain Oilers are full and functioning. Keeping your chain properly oiled is imperative to the function and longevity of your conveyor. A properly oiled chain significantly reduces running friction (saving you energy) and can last more than twice as long as an under oiled chain.
- Maintaining proper chain tension. This should be done through periodic visual checks to ensure the chain is not loos enough to slip over teeth on the drive sprockets, but also not so tight as to add friction and resistance to the system.

What is a z pan roller conveyor belt?
A Z-pan roller chain conveyor belt is an all steel conveyor belt that is designed for high impact and demanding environments. Z-Pan belts are made from our heavy duty chain (one on each side) in 6”, 9”, or 12” pitches and heavy duty pans 3/16”, ¼” and 3/8” thick that are formed in two places laterally to create for extreme rigidity and impact resistance.
-
Are chains lubricated in a Z-pan conveyor?
Yes, chains are lubricated in a Z-pan conveyor. Chain lubrication is extremely important for the longevity and wear characteristics of your chain. Fluent conveyors installs automatic chain oilers on all of our chain conveyors. If your conveyor does not have automatic chain oilers Fluent Conveyors highly recommends that you install them.
-
How do conveyor rollers work?
Conveyor rollers work as an integral part of both the chain and the tracking. The rollers rotate on hardened bushings that are pressed between the bars on both sides of the chain. This bushing/roller interface allows for a low rolling resistance to decrease the power required to run your conveyor. These rollers also distribute the load from the belt to the carrying track (Fluent conveyors uses 25# rail). On top of these functions many manufacturers (Fluent Conveyors Included) use flanged rollers. These flanges extend on the sides of the carrying rails and help to ensure the belt is always aligned and tracking properly.

How to calculate the speed of a chain conveyor belt?
Calculating your belt speed can be difficult. There are many factors that can affect the speed of your belt. If you need exact speeds please contact Fluent Conveyors and we can help. If you are only looking for a rough number, then the measurement can be easier. Mark a starting point on your frame. Then using a stopwatch and an obvious mark (can be a cleat or lacing) on your belt make another mark on your frame indicating how far your belt traveled in 6 seconds. Measure this distance in feet and multiply this number by 10. That will give you your feet/min speed. Example, if the belt traveled 4’ in the 6 seconds then your belt speed is 40 fpm.
