Chevron cleated belts improve the incline conveying of bulk, loose, or wet materials. The V-shaped cleat geometry creates enclosed pockets that capture and retain material along the belt, preventing rollback and reducing lateral migration on angles where a smooth belt would fail.

The primary selection variables for a chevron belt are profile, cleat height, and cleat spacing.
Open V and closed V profiles are the foundational options.
Leave a gap at the tip of the V, which allows liquid drainage and reduces carryback on wet or sticky materials.

Cleat height scales with incline angle and material size: 1–2″ for granular and light-bulk applications, 4–8″ for steep inclines and large aggregate. Taller cleats require adequate return path clearance and are not compatible with conveyors that have tight return geometry.
For wet, sticky, or compacting materials prone to carryback at the discharge end, try a herringbone cleated belt. It shares the same V-geometry but leaves the apex open for cleaner material release.
Vulcanized into the belt carcass during manufacturing. With no mechanical joint at the base, this is the best choice for high-load, high-cycle applications, abrasive materials, and anywhere cleat detachment would cause downstream damage or process interruption. Standard for chevron and herringbone patterns.

Bolted or bonded onto the belt after manufacturing. Worn or damaged cleats can be swapped in the field without pulling the belt. Tack-on and mechanically attached styles simplify maintenance and allow for quick field repairs on lower-intensity applications.

Cleat base cracking and delamination are often a symptom of the wrong attachment method for the application, not a belt quality issue.
The right belt compound depends on what the belt contacts and the operating environment.

Corrugated sidewall belts add vulcanized corrugated walls along the belt edges, closing off chevron pockets and enabling near-vertical conveying angles. Center support ribs are available for long-span incline conveyors where belt sag between support points is a concern.

Gather the essential measurements before ordering to ensure a precise fit and reliable performance.
