Fluent designs and manufactures standard and custom sort stations for MRFs, transfer stations, and recycling facilities. 4- to 12-person manual lines and automated multi-stream systems.

Recycling sort stations separate a mixed material stream by type, quality, or destination so operators and automated equipment can recover value from waste.

Fluent sort stations are built on roller chain conveyors or pulley-driven conveyors and engineered for continuous, high-torque duty in demanding recycling environments.
Fluent offers standard and custom sort stations to cover the full range of recycling and waste management applications.

Pre-engineered 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12-person sort lines for single-stream, C&D, e-waste, dual-stream, OCC, and other common waste streams. Standard systems are configurable within defined size and layout parameters and carry a 12–14 week lead time.
Fully custom sort systems for facilities with unique footprints, retrofit constraints, specialized material streams, or automation requirements. Custom systems support manual, automated, and hybrid sorting configurations and carry a 16–18 week lead time.
Standard sort stations use roller chain conveyors. Custom systems integrate additional custom conveyor types as the material stream requires.

Recycling and waste management: MSW, e-waste, scrap metal, glass, plastics, and textiles; also transfer stations and municipalities
4-, 6-, 8-, 10-, and 12-person manual sorting platforms; custom configurations available
Widths 36–120 inches; lengths 10–30 feet; infeed incline 25–35 degrees (60-degree tumble-back available)
9,000–25,000 lb chain pull; 5–25 HP Nord drives
Rubber combo, hinged steel, apron pan, z-pan
Guarding, e-stops, pull cords, dead man plates, and walkways; PLC integration; up to 480/600VAC
We combine advanced engineering and high-quality materials to build each sort station for durability and long-term performance.

Every sort station is built from heavy structural steel: 3/16-inch rectangular tubing, 1/4-inch steel pan sidewalls, 1/4-inch supports, and 25#–30# rail track for chain support. Frames are MIG-welded, sandblasted, and powder-coated for corrosion resistance.

Our sort stations are designed, engineered, and manufactured to outperform the recognized standards for conveyor safety, performance, and reliability.
Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association standards for alignment tolerances, belt ratings, bearing selection, guarding, and installation.
National safety standard for conveyors and related equipment.
International standards for conveyor belts, safety, and quality management.
Workplace safety requirements for guarding, lockout/tagout, and operation.

We design and build custom control systems for your sort line, including start/stop sequencing, e-stop integration, and interlocks with upstream and downstream equipment. Each control panel houses the electrical components, operator interfaces, and safety circuitry needed to run the station, while the control system programming handles the logic.

Material enters via a roller chain infeed conveyor that is pit-mounted or mounted above ground, depending on facility layout and tipping floor configuration. Pit infeeds accept material loaded by skid steer, front-end loader, or other equipment into an in-ground conveyor. Above-ground infeeds integrate with floor-level tipping and transfer conveyors.
